Tundra Tee | Esther Pederson Photography

October 12th, 2013

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to shoot some commercial images for Alice, owner of Tundra Tee, for her new website she is planning. Everything worked out beautifully, the weather, the fall colors, and most importantly the models. Everyone did a wonderful job in front of the camera, I was impressed! They sure rocked their session like real models! What’s neat is that all of these people are Alice’s friends and are from her hometown of Koyuk, which is one of the villages outside of Nome. Having this representation and local connection in her business is what I call “Authentic!” Alice definitely knows where her heart belongs, and putting that together with her passion for her business is what makes her a true success. She is a sweet lady and a hard worker. I hope these images will help sell a lot of your designs Alice! I had fun taking them! Blog9

the Hobbs family | Esther Pederson Photography

August 30th, 2013

This session was planned early this spring, not by the Hobbs family, but by a good family friend of theirs, RuthAnn. Their family portraits were a gift from her. What an amazing present to such a loving and giving family! As usual, our unpredictable Nome weather played a factor in the timing of the photos, but once we finally got together it ended up being the perfect evening for photos. The light was soft and wonderful. I knew I would have fun on this session, but little did I know that my heart would completely melt by the end of our time together. The kids (and parents) did their part and more, resulting in beautiful photos they can all cherish for many years to come. Nate (Dad) is also a fellow photographer/videographer, so I had fun utilizing his skills with the reflector and composing the family. Whew, what a blessing- and I think that played a large part in the session going so smoothly. Anyway, what more can I say. This family was picture perfect. They are all such beautiful blessings to each other. Enjoy Hobbs and “Hobbits”! Thank you again for your graciousness towards me, and for all those wonderful hugs at the end! <3Blog1

Sweet Marcella | Esther Pederson Photography

June 19th, 2013

I love my clients, and I’m so happy when I get to shoot them more than once. This was my second time around with the Pitt family, the first time was when now big sister Miss Shylah was a newborn. Since then, they’ve added sweet Marcella to the family, and she couldn’t be any cuter! I still think Shylah had the best hair at this stage, but hey, who’s comparing! We took these right on Cella’s two week birthday. I see so many similarities between the two, when I look back at Shylah’s newborn photos. I’m glad to have been part of your family’s exciting arrivals and look forward to watching the girlies grow! Lets plan a family session next….on Nome’s beautiful tundra!

joni + robert | Esther Pederson Photography

June 29th, 2012

What an amazing session, it took me way too long to weed through the photos just to pick some for the blog. Man, what a joyful little boy, and such a sweet sweet Mom. Capturing these two together was just like watching them through a secret window into their life. Their laughter, their hugs, their joy. I will let the photos speak, enjoy Joni! I truly had a wonderful time with you both. Nome will miss you.

the Saito family | Esther Pederson Photography

September 23rd, 2011

This town is funny sometimes. Well, maybe it’s just me, but I have “known” quite a few people before even meeting them in real life. Yes, the internet has become a big part of my world, and through facebook and other venues, I’ve interacted with a lot of people that eventually I get a chance to meet. It was like that with Jane and I. We messaged back and forth for quite some time and because of conflicting schedules and our crazy summer travel, we just never got a chance to meet…until now. It was a breath of fresh air to work with her family. They are cute (in a gorgeous sort of way), sweet, and down to earth. I clicked with them instantly, and their little boy, even tired and not much into the glamour shots, melted my heart! Thanks for being up for all my ideas guys, and for accidentally having the greatest ones too! :) Those candid moments really turned into special memories. Enjoy this preview and I’ll talk with you all soon.

the Carter family | Esther Pederson Photography

September 7th, 2011

So I normally don’t book any sessions on the weekends, because our family is always at camp. We haven’t spent a weekend at home yet! That is our time to take a break from the week and relax. Well, the Carter’s called me a few days before the weekend, and said they wanted a session at camp, in Council! I had planned a session with another family in Council about a month before and since our weather didn’t cooperate, we had to cancel. So, without hesitation, I of course said YES! Council is beautiful and the perfect backdrop for photos. The river, the trees, the manicured lawns! Especially this time of year, when the colors are so dramatic and strong. Photos with the Carter’s had been a plan in the works since last fall, but we just didn’t get a chance before the snow started to fly. So, they were just as excited as I was to get them done this time around. It was a fun session, this family just loves to laugh and joke with each other. I don’t think there was a chance to stop smiling, even for me. I hope you all love the photos, and when you look back on them, always think of those special memories made in your Council home throughout the years. It was such a pleasure working in such a beautiful setting with a family to match.

the Shultz/Morgan family | Esther Pederson Photography

You wouldn’t believe how many times Christine and I had to schedule and re-schedule to finally get her family photos done. The timing of things, and most of all the weather, just would not cooperate for almost one year! Then, just as Alex was off to begin his college career and the three would no longer be together, we got our opportunity. The day was on and off rain, and so unpredictable. But the sun shone down just long enough to snap a few photos, and just short enough to where I didn’t torture the guys too much! :) On top of raising two handsome boys, Christine is a busy working Mom and so gorgeous too. Her bright smile just explodes on camera and I love that. Enjoy the photos Christine. Thank those boys again for me, I really don’t think you could have asked for a better gift from them!

the Baker family | Esther Pederson Photography

August 18th, 2011

When John approached me about a photography session as a gift for his wife’s birthday, I was beyond excited for a few reasons. This family is among the nicest people in our town, always involved in community and sporting events. But most of all, I was excited because I know they are just plain gorgeous….not only photogenic, but beautiful in person as well and so easy going. I’ve never seen Becka without a smile or a laugh (for good reason..her boys, including John, just adore her). Both their sons are great kids and when you live in a small community like Nome, you get to watch all the kids grow up and are proud of them as they make their way. These two–no exception. I was happy for sunny weather and just enjoyed myself in the company of another great Nome family. I even gained a new cousin in the process. :) Enjoy guys….you were all so wonderful to work with. And again, the happiest of birthdays and cheers for another great year to Mrs. Baker.

fun and loving family | Esther Pederson Photography

I was fortunate enough to have met up with this gorgeous and sweet family. They were passing through on their way back to Kodiak from a visit to Anne Marie’s hometown, Golovin. In between our very wet weather and wind, the sun came out and just like magic, we captured some amazing photos. I just love their family. So full of life, happiness and love. And so close-knit too. On top of all that, they sure knew how to pose themselves…I didn’t give much direction. Can my job get any easier than this? Beautiful and natural…enjoy Anne Marie and Brian!

Dana + Andy | Esther Pederson Photography

August 4th, 2011

Dana received a gift certificate for a mom/son photo session from a friend. What a special way to honor a beautiful and hard working Mom. We had a great time together, just living in the moment and getting those lifestyle type memories captured. Andy wasn’t up for too much camera love, but I had fun chasing him around getting images that show who he really is, PURE BOY! :) I totally understand, as I have one of my own. He was in little boy heaven as we showed him the small planes at our local airfield. If he doesn’t become a pilot when he gets bigger, I’ll be surprised. And if he doesn’t ask his Mom everyday to visit that field again, I’ll be surprised at that too! HAHA, sorry Dana! He had fun is all I’m saying. We also enjoyed their family camp and got some special and amazing photos there too. You are one hot mom Dana….right people?? Thanks you two! Loving this preview, I hope you do too.
