Pinch me, I must be dreaming! No, seriously. I know I keep saying it, but this family was amazing. Fun, beautiful, creative, beautiful, hansome, funny, beautiful, and did I mention beautiful?
I had a lot of fun last night. The Johnsons brought so much positive energy to the shoot it made my work easy. I almost feel guilty calling it work! How many people have this much fun at their jobs? (two thumbs up for me!) I looked out the window at 6:00pm (thinking our session is supposed to start at 7:30) and with the worst timing the fog and mist began quickly shrouding Nome. (No big shocker for a Nomeite, our weather can change on a dime) Thank God it left almost as quickly as it came. By 8:00 it started to look brighter, and by the time we were done shooting, the sun was out and the clouds were mostly gone from the sky. It was perfect. [Insert angels singing here] Enjoy your preview of photos Johnson family. And thanks again for a wonderfully fun evening. You guys are the best. No, really!

August 3, 2010goodbye friend | Esther Pederson Photography
August 3, 2010My good friend Darcy moved away the other day. I was really sad to see her leave, but I also have hopes for a brighter future for her and her beautiful daughter. So, before they left, we decided to do a little photo shoot around Nome. I photographed them back when little Allyson was just 6 or 7 months old, so it was fun to see how she had changed since then. She can walk, and pick berries, and smell flowers. So cute! She’s a busy little bee, and Darcy you are going to have your hands full the next few years! But, I also know that raising a little girl is so much fun, especially when they want to bake with you, or want you to fix their hair, or just snuggle. I hope you like the photos so far Darcy! I’m going to miss you. Make sure you reserve a nice guest spot (and a glass of wine) in your new house for us. We’ll surely come visit you soon, as this goodbye isn’t forever. xo.

the Jessup family | Esther Pederson Photography
July 30, 2010When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses. ~Joyce Brothers
The Jessup’s were a fun family to photograph. They are all so photogenic. Just look at mom and dad! Both lovely people who make amazingly gorgeous kids! Couple that with beautiful surroundings and a day that started out gray but ended in sunshine. Who could ask for anything more? Ahhh, magical! Of course, it was also packed full of energy, water fun, stick swords, sand, tundra flowers and oh, did I mention puppies? Yeah, it couldn’t have gotten any better. I got to meet Judith’s new puppy Trooper, who at 8 weeks old is a ball of fluff. What a cutie. Thanks Jessups for a great night. I hope you enjoy this sneak peak. ![]()

Conner trio | Esther Pederson Photography
July 14, 2010This was the second shoot for the Conners in one week because I forgot to shoot the boys together (must have been distracted the first time!!) lol. I’m sorta glad I got to see them again though, because I ended up getting this shot, which I love! Although, I think the boys must think I am nuts now, and hope to never see me again after what I put them through….getting eaten alive by a million mosquitos and making them hike up a mountain!
But all in all, I hope Mom is happy with this shot. I know I would love it on my wall. Happy 18th Birthday to Carson too! Enjoy the rest of your summer guys. I promise not to see you again for a long time!!

July 13, 2010the Conner family | Esther Pederson Photography
July 10, 2010I love this family. They are fun, energetic, talkative, friendly, and a blast to be around. I know Bobbi Jo just a little bit and had just met her two sons the day of the shoot. Yup, I already love them! Some people you just enjoy being around, and this family is just that kind of a family! You can probably tell which one was full of character.
No hints here. lol. We got to play outside on a gorgeous Nome day. The sun was high and the wind was just enough to keep the mosquitos away. I hope you enjoy the sneak peak Conners. Thanks for all the energy you put into the shoot.

family of {4} | Esther Pederson Photography
June 24, 2010I met up with this family last night for a photo session. The weather was perfect, the swarms of mosquitos were out in full force, and of course this family was full of life. Little Brandon reminded me a lot of my own son, full of energy and constantly on the move!
It was fun to watch them interact with each other. They seemed so comfortable with one another, and photographing them was like documenting their story, rather than taking posed portraits. It was fabulous! Thank you all so much for your patience with me, Eva and Miah. Enjoy your sneak peak!

gorgeous and glowing | Esther Pederson Photography
May 25, 2010I met up with this amazing couple yesterday for an evening maternity session. The weather was incredible and more than I could have hoped for. The mama to be was of course as gorgeous as could be. It made me miss having a baby bump of my own. <3 We ventured out and got some amazing shots that these soon to be parents can treasure long after their little one has flown from the nest. Of course we had to get the other two “kids” in on the action too. They don’t know what’s coming yet, but I’m sure they will be a great set of brothers to their new sister. Thanks Tara and Loren for a fabulous session and for being so open to my ideas. You will both be incredible parents and this little one is certainly blessed to have you as family. Can’t wait to meet her! xo.

2 edits, 1 photo | Esther Pederson Photography
March 8, 2010I played a little with this photo last night. First I did my standard processing (on the right), then I thought it would be fun to do a funky edit with some new actions I got. I think I actually prefer the softer hazy edit on the left. What do you think? This photo was taken on our last day in Hawaii. Sienna and I got lei’s from Daddy for Valentines Day, and she sported this thing till the flowers were wilty and falling off. It was so cute! I love this photo too..everything about it is perfect in my mind. The location of course was to die for, the smile on her face says she is happy, and our last day in Hawaii at the best beach ever! What good memories to look back on! Anyway, tell me which you prefer, and I’ll tell you where you can snag these actions for free so you can play too.
This last one is pretty special too. Sienna and me on Valentines Day, overlooking the Wailua River. {love!}

speaking of sunsets | Esther Pederson Photography
February 27, 2010So I spoke of the lovely sunsets of Kauai, but failed to really include any in my posts yet. Oops! Well, I’ve got plenty of photos to choose from, but I wanted to include this sweet shot of Larry and Sienna first. Again, those awesome black lava rocks…just make the shot special! I love that beach. Another sunset photo from a different perspective, with emphasis on the wild grass on the mountainside. I just love the processing on this, and the sunflare again makes this a magical shot. I love when I can see the shot from start to finish. That is exactly what happened with that one. Some shots are all about the detail and this was one of them. The last one makes me smile because it just seems like I rarely get a moment like this with the little one. He’s such a boy, and always so busy getting into this and that. This was a moment I wanted to capture. I will hang onto this one for a really long time I’m sure.
