joni + robert | Esther Pederson Photography

June 29th, 2012

What an amazing session, it took me way too long to weed through the photos just to pick some for the blog. Man, what a joyful little boy, and such a sweet sweet Mom. Capturing these two together was just like watching them through a secret window into their life. Their laughter, their hugs, their joy. I will let the photos speak, enjoy Joni! I truly had a wonderful time with you both. Nome will miss you.

my son | Esther Pederson Photography

January 24th, 2012

It’s wonderful to have a son. Levi tells me everyday that he loves me, and thanks me for everything. He really does have a golden heart, and I am blessed to be his Mama. He’s 3, and not for long. I want to cherish these moments, they are fleeting fast. Here are a few things about Levi:

1. Loves basketball…..(I mean, really LOVES it. When we go to the pool, he hangs out at the hoop the whole time!)
2. Loves food, and can eat at any time of day.
3. Learned how to spell and write his name this year.
4. Loves to read books.
5. Wants a spiderman themed birthday on his next big day.
6. Will play the wii until he is dripping sweat, swording is his favorite.
7. Insists on holding my hand at night until he falls asleep.
8. Loves going to the bank with me, just to score a lollipop from the teller.
9. When asked “How are you?”, he replies, “I’m 3!”
10. Loves Council, camp, boating, and fishing.

the Saito family | Esther Pederson Photography

This town is funny sometimes. Well, maybe it’s just me, but I have “known” quite a few people before even meeting them in real life. Yes, the internet has become a big part of my world, and through facebook and other venues, I’ve interacted with a lot of people that eventually I get a chance to meet. It was like that with Jane and I. We messaged back and forth for quite some time and because of conflicting schedules and our crazy summer travel, we just never got a chance to meet…until now. It was a breath of fresh air to work with her family. They are cute (in a gorgeous sort of way), sweet, and down to earth. I clicked with them instantly, and their little boy, even tired and not much into the glamour shots, melted my heart! Thanks for being up for all my ideas guys, and for accidentally having the greatest ones too! :) Those candid moments really turned into special memories. Enjoy this preview and I’ll talk with you all soon.

oh raz | Esther Pederson Photography

September 11th, 2011

We were in Anchorage for a week for a little vacation, shopping, visit with friends and family, the state fair, and other stuff. It was nice to be away for a while. But in the back of my mind, I had all my clients and their proofs that were waiting to be edited on my computer at home. Yes, work piled up when I was gone. But I’m back again, so I’m starting to get back into the groove of things. And just to stay sane from all that editing, I had to edit just a couple images (Yes, two…that’s all I allow myself right now!) for myself. The first morning we were there, we got to pick some of Auntie Tween’s raspberries from her backyard. Oh, so yummy! The kids had a blast. I did too, snapping photos and eating the fruits of their labor. :)

fun and loving family | Esther Pederson Photography

August 12th, 2011

I was fortunate enough to have met up with this gorgeous and sweet family. They were passing through on their way back to Kodiak from a visit to Anne Marie’s hometown, Golovin. In between our very wet weather and wind, the sun came out and just like magic, we captured some amazing photos. I just love their family. So full of life, happiness and love. And so close-knit too. On top of all that, they sure knew how to pose themselves…I didn’t give much direction. Can my job get any easier than this? Beautiful and natural…enjoy Anne Marie and Brian!

Dana + Andy | Esther Pederson Photography

August 4th, 2011

Dana received a gift certificate for a mom/son photo session from a friend. What a special way to honor a beautiful and hard working Mom. We had a great time together, just living in the moment and getting those lifestyle type memories captured. Andy wasn’t up for too much camera love, but I had fun chasing him around getting images that show who he really is, PURE BOY! :) I totally understand, as I have one of my own. He was in little boy heaven as we showed him the small planes at our local airfield. If he doesn’t become a pilot when he gets bigger, I’ll be surprised. And if he doesn’t ask his Mom everyday to visit that field again, I’ll be surprised at that too! HAHA, sorry Dana! He had fun is all I’m saying. We also enjoyed their family camp and got some special and amazing photos there too. You are one hot mom Dana….right people?? Thanks you two! Loving this preview, I hope you do too.

the Moore family | Esther Pederson Photography

June 22nd, 2011

The Moore family………..my family. I had a fun session with my sister Anna and brother-in-law Ted and their family of boys. Truth be told, I was a little worried about how the session might go….with five boys to lasso into one frame. But it was amazing and fun and an evening where beautiful memories were made. I was so impressed with the cooperation of the guys and flow of the session. Even little baby Rowan was cooing in the wind. It was so cute! In between getting different shots, I was chasing around my little nephew Ethan who was begging me to take his photo everywhere he went, on this rock and that. I felt right at home because I have kids of my own at that age. And the older boys….Oh, the older boys! As handsome as ever, and future heartbreakers for sure. In the land of the midnight sun, we ended our time together at 12AM where I went home content and excited about what my little memory cards held. Hopefully the Moore’s will agree that it was time well spent. Enjoy guys. xoxo

our trip…San Diego, CA | Esther Pederson Photography

March 5th, 2011

We fit a lot of fun into our trip to SoCal. It rained the first couple days we were there, but the sun popped out the last few days and we were able to enjoy ourselves. The zoo, the beach, Disneyland, shopping, good food (and lots of it!). It was also great to see my friend Shylah and her family, as they drove from Phoenix to see us and vacation as well. As I was editing these photos, it made me happy because there is so much color, something we don’t see very much of in Alaska in the wintertime. It was a much needed break from the cold for me. I enjoyed every bit of it. I hope you enjoy seeing it through my lens as well.

beautiful maternity….Asaaluk | Esther Pederson Photography

December 28th, 2010

I always get excited when a mom-to-be asks me to shoot some maternity photos for them. I think they are my favorite sessions. There is something about a pregnant woman that is so beautiful. Even if they don’t feel very photogenic, especially at the later stages of pregnancy, they still have a glow that just radiates. Asaaluk is every bit as gorgeous. She not only is beautiful outside, she is just as beautiful inside as well. She is a mom to a bouncy and outgoing three year old girl, who was my little helper (thank you AwaLuk!) during the session. I know she’ll be a great helper when her baby sister arrives too. Can’t wait to meet her! Enjoy you guys, and blessings as you welcome another little angel into the world. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!

enjoying winter | Esther Pederson Photography

December 5th, 2010

We were able to drive out the road a ways last week to gather some beach wood for our wood stove. It was nice to be out in the country in the middle of the winter. I’m sure the roads are all snowed over now, since we had our big storm the last two days. I’m glad we got out one more time before then. Also since then, the ocean has finally frozen over. In some ways it makes me sad to say goodbye to the rolling waves, but on the other hand, I am excited to eat some fresh crab from our Norton Sound waters again! :)
