David & Julie | Esther Pederson Photography

June 10th, 2013

I had a fun evening with these two. They had no idea they had model potential just waiting to be extracted! But sure enough, the photos came out lovely and I can’t stop smiling as I browse through them. David and Julie are a respected couple in our community who also have some major (and exciting) life changes coming up! After living in Nome for several years, they have decided to move back to Julie’s home state, closer to family, which only means one thing….they are expecting their first baby! I am so thrilled for them, and I know their baby is going to be so loved and dare I say spoiled?! :) I only hope wonderful things for them in the coming months as they transition into their new life. Thank you for being such amazing role models in our community, you will both be missed by many! Best wishes on your journey and please keep in touch. Blog3

McKenzie & Denny | Esther Pederson Photography

July 18th, 2012

Sooo, it has been a whirlwind of a couple weeks. Between house guests, and super sunny weather, and birthday parties and camp trips, and photo sessions, my computer decided to go kaput on me. Ahh, yes, right in the middle of a memory card download! Eek, thank goodness all my treasures are safe. BUT, it has been a hectic couple weeks, as I was pulling my hair out knowing I was getting further and further behind in my editing and orders. But, I’m back, and that means the blog will start to be a little more active again and galleries will finally be opened up for my clients! YAY! I met up with these two, or should I say three (Bo counts right?) and just as luck would have it, the weather cleared up just when we needed it to. I was crossing my fingers, because we really didn’t have any chance to re-schedule as these two love birds have since moved away. And it was sort of bittersweet for me too, because I’ve photographed Kenzie before, so this was a fun way to say goodbye, for now. We had our fun, and I want to thank Denny especially for playing along with all of the ideas, and also a good scratch on the ears for Bo, who is definetely a crazy two year old dog! haha. I had a lot of fun guys. Best of wishes for your future together in your new life! See you again soon I hope.

Erin & Nathan | Esther Pederson Photography

May 31st, 2012

I get a bit ridiculous when I photograph an engagement session (or similar). My thoughts seem to materialize into words, and I’m sure my clients think I’m crazy. lol. But it’s true when I yell out words like “beautiful!!”, or “perfect!!” or my all time favorite “oh my gosh!!”. At least when I do that, I get some real smiles and laughs. I know Erin a little bit from around town, but it was my first time meeting her fiance’ Nathan. What a great match, these two. They complement each other in many ways, and their gentle affection for one another is very sweet. Despite our drab brown surroundings and wet tundra (classic spring time in Alaska!), we had fun stopping here and there using different locations as backdrops. My favorite, the last location, with the beautiful snowy hills in the background. Enjoy you two! Again, thanks for your patience with my ideas, and for getting into the session with me!

engaged and in love | Esther Pederson Photography

April 22nd, 2011

Anthony and Tiffany are sweet, and even sweeter together. They made my job easy by doing what they already know how to do….love each other. It was neat to see them smile together, share quiet moments together and laugh together. Enjoy this little sneak peak guys! I’m looking forward to working with you to make some amazing invites for your upcoming wedding. All the best in your new life together. <3

Tom & Jessica | Esther Pederson Photography

November 3rd, 2010

These are two of my favorite people in the whole world. Meet Tom and Jessica. Not only are they a gorgeous couple on the outside, they have so much inner beauty too! Just being around them makes me happy. It helps that they both love kids too. My kids love them and they are pretty much considered Auntie and Uncle for Levi and Sienna! Tom and Jesse have been with me on my photography journey from the beginning. They were one of my first guinea pigs before I even knew what an aperature was! It’s been so fun to watch them grow in their relationship, and at the same time, see how I’ve progressed in my photography journey. I’ll spare you the images that I took back then. But here are the new ones we just snapped a few days ago. Enjoy you two! I love how they turned out. :)

The Smiths | Esther Pederson Photography

October 20th, 2010

It’s always fun to meet new people. Meeting Mel and Aidan were no exception. They are young, fun, beautiful and happy. I had so much fun capturing their free spirits and hope they had fun as well. Now it wasn’t exactly picture taking weather when we started out (unless you are dressed like a marshmellow in winter gear). Right before I headed out, the thermometer read 20 degrees (at 10am), and I knew it was colder because of the wind. But Mel showed up at my front door looking cute AND stylish!! I was pretty impressed right from the get go. (I only felt slightly guilty wearing my comfy fleece gear and thermal underwear) :) Well, as the morning went on, and as we headed to lower ground and out of the snow, it was actually pretty comfortable and we got some grrrrreaaat shots. They brought along their cute dog, Coho, who is totally photogenic as well! She was so cute as a matter of fact, I almost wanted to stash her in my camera bag and take her home. lol. Well, just as quickly as I met them, they will be leaving our small town and on to new adventures. Best of luck to you three, and I am so glad we fit a session in before you all left. I’ll be in touch soon with more proofs!

margrit & jamie | Esther Pederson Photography

September 24th, 2010

Margrit & Jamie. I met up with this couple a few nights ago. I love maternity sessions, but because these two are newlyweds, it made it that much more special to see two people so freshly in love. Does that make sense? They were so fun and cute together. Their new little one growing inside is no doubt going to be the center of their universe once his/her grand entrance is made! (I can’t wait!) As I was shooting, I kept sneaking peaks at my LCD screen and gasping out loud. It made them laugh and smile, but seriously, I couldn’t have been happier with how the images turned out. I joked that their images were going to be hanging in my house as well as theirs. :) Here’s a few from our session Margrit and Jamie. Enjoy and bask in your beautifulness! xoxo

{love} | Esther Pederson Photography

April 8th, 2010

I had fun with these two a few days ago. This is my friend Debbie, who you might remember from a few months back when I did her beautiful maternity photos. Well, I had the priviledge of capturing some memories of their new little one back in August, and now that they are planning a June wedding, I also snapped some engagement photos for their invitations! It’s fun to go through the whole process with a couple, and I’m so proud of them for their commitment to each other. After a chilly session we decided to get some drinks to warm up. I thought it was the perfect spot for some colorful shots as well. They might be my favorite from the session! I hope you like them Debbie and Lahka. I look forward to the big day in the next few months. It will be here before you know it. :)

Have you ever wondered? | Esther Pederson Photography

April 7th, 2009

Have you ever wondered what my images looked like straight out of the camera (SOOC)? Well, today I am going to show you a photo SOOC, and then show you the same photo after I’m done editing it. It feels weird posting a “naked” photo for the world to see, but I always like looking at other photogs before/afters, so here I go. I’m going back to one of my favorite sessions with a fun couple. These were taken last summer (another reason why I wanted to post these….it gets me excited for the upcoming summer!) on a partly cloudy day. To get a good overall image, I try my best to nail down exposure, composition and focus in camera. All my editing is done in Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe Photoshop CS3. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
