Before we had kids, it was all about her. Literally! You should see how many folders of photos we have of her stashed on our computer. She was our only baby for six years! No wonder she thinks she’s the boss sometimes. Well, since I haven’t really pointed the camera at her lately, I thought I should dedicate a post just for her. She is a pretty good dog, most of the time. Regardless, we still love her, and in front of the camera she is pretty good looking too.

Just looking at these photos reinforces in me that she is growing up too fast. OK, waaay too fast. Just look at this girl! She was just my baby yesterday, and now she is a girl, running through the grass and amazed at every little thing she sees. I hope I am doing all I can to raise her into the woman she will eventually be.

We had a little visitor over the weekend, and boy was he fun! I couldn’t resist photographing his cuteness. He looks like a total rockstar, and I wish I had a better setup, with a guitar, etc. Man, would that be cute or what? Well, I’m glad you both came to see us, and are welcome anytime. Love ya both!

Our first drive out of town this year brought us here. This is a roadhouse about 14 miles from where we live. I don’t know the history of this place, but as it stood there it looked timeless. It looked so beautiful against the frozen surroundings. Even more so in BW.

She did it to me again. She put herself into a situation where it was screaming, PHOTO OP!! I can’t help it. I saw this and had to capture this moment in time. I love how the wood is framing her little face, and how she is all bundled up. We had another adventure out to Grandma’s Cabin tonight. We got to watch Auntie Nora fly her kite and I enjoyed a hot cup of Grandma’s french press coffee, while waiting for the two hunters to get back. What a fun time to get outdoors. I love our time together as a family, where we can simply just enjoy each other’s company in the beauty of God’s creation!

Reader: Oh no, not another recipe!! Me: Oh Yes!! Another recipe!

Well, by now you can probably tell that I’m obsessed with photographing beautiful food. This one is no different. My mom made this dessert for my sister’s birthday the other day, and it was way too scrumptious not to share! I will definetely be making this dessert this summer. It’s nice and light and creamy and crunchy and delicious! Yup, all that bundled up into one. Perfection right?

Strawberry Bruschetta Yield: 20 Servings

20 slices French bread, cut 1/4″ thick
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 lemon
1 container (8 ounces) cream cheese spread
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 1/2 cups strawberries, hulled and coarsely chopped
1/3 cup toasted sliced almonds (optional)
Additional powdered sugar (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place bread slices on baking sheet. Brush butter over bread slices. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over bread slices. Bake 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.

2. Meanwhile, zest lemon to measure 1 teaspoon zest. Juice lemon to measure 2 teaspoons juice. In a small bowl, whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.

3. Spread cream cheese mixture over bread slices. Top with strawberries. Sprinkle bruschetta with almonds and powdered sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.

We went out to my mom’s cabin for Mother’s Day just 10 miles outside of town. What a great day to get together, eat good food (I’m always talking or posting about food…I know!), laugh together, and just be outdoors. I’m so excited that summer is right around the corner, which means we will be out there much more! Well, it wasn’t exactly summer weather on Mother’s Day, so we had to wear warm layers. Most of the snow around the cabin was melted, but there were still some patches left here and there. I caught my nephew pulling around this little red sled on the tundra, looking for some snow to slide on. It was perfect! He was the cutest little bugger out there. I wanted to share him with you all.

After a week long trip to Anchorage we are back and happy to be home. However, we had a great trip!
