Photographing Mason was a blast. Who ever said photographing senior boys was a pain anyway? We had so much fun together, and it felt like we were old buddies, just joking around with each other. He always had a smile on his face, and I even had to yell at him to “look serious, or else!” haha. Mason better get the best smile award in his class this year too, because just look at it, he really has a great smile, and it’s so contagious too! The last shot was Mason’s awesome idea and inspired by the famous chalk throw by NBA great Lebron James. If you ask me, I think Mason’s version is much better, not to mention creative! Thanks for the fun evening Mason, and I cannot wait to show you the rest of your photos.

October 29, 2009snowflakes | Esther Pederson Photography
October 27, 2009I just love how snow can look in photos, especially when it is gently falling down like this. Yes, you heard me right, we got SNOW!! I’m a little excited, yet at the same time wanting to desperately fit in as many sessions as I can before it is just too cold to go outside for photos. We went to the end of the Kougarok road on Sunday (we have three roads leading out of town) and found this awesome bridge for some cool photos. Had to capture some cool old skool grafiti too.
PS-I am LOVING my 70-200mm L 2.8. This lens simply rocks!
Steffen…2010 senior | Esther Pederson Photography
October 23, 2009Even though we almost froze during our session, I had such a blast with Steffen. He was a great sport and I *almost* felt guilty shooting him while wearing my puffy down jacket and hat.
It was a great change of pace, and how can you not enjoy a session with a guy that photographs so well! I couldn’t wait to get home to edit a couple for the blog. Enjoy the sneak peak Steffen, and I look forward to showing you the rest very soon!

pretend birthday | Esther Pederson Photography
October 21, 2009No, this wasn’t me when I was turning 3. (Although the bad bad photo kinda reminds me of something taken a long time ago. lol. Which reminds me, I need to start using my flash!!) This is Sienna, pretending it was her birthday. We sang to her, Larry and I, and she made her wish, and blew out the candle. We even clapped and said “Happy Birthday Sienna!” She was so tickled that we did this for her, she didn’t even notice we didn’t have a present. The brownies were delicious. Thanks for having a pretend birthday Seena.

October 19, 2009I am a self proclaimed black and white addict. I love black and white, and when Richelle and I got to this location, I just knew the images would look stunning in black and white. And since I didn’t get to post any last time, I just had to post something today. I’m inside editing on this beautiful sunny day, so it’s only fair I get to share one more with you all. Can’t wait to be done and show you the rest Richelle!

Richelle…2010 senior | Esther Pederson Photography
October 15, 2009Richelle was so awesome to work with! She was up for anything and was so patient with me while we endured the cold fall weather. My fingers literally wouldn’t work when we were done, they were so cold! But my goodness, she made me feel famous for a while, because at times it felt like I was photographing a model, or an actress. Seriously! This girl is gorgeous AND smart AND athletic AND just plain talented! Thanks for bringing your smile and your great attitude Richelle. I’m thrilled with the images we captured, and I hope you are too! And thanks to Hillary for being there and going with us to the crazy ends of the earth for these photos! (Well, at least to the end of Nome and back!) haha. Oh, one more shout out to Sarah Hanson-Hoffstetter for lending me this rockin’ chair for this shoot. It totally made it special in every way! I love it. If you live in Nome or are ever in the area, go check out her cute little shop, Bearing Song. You won’t be sorry! <3

x2 | Esther Pederson Photography
October 13, 2009This was my first session with twins, and they happen to belong to my cousin Don and his wife Fei. My heart melted when I first saw and held them, and to get the chance to photograph them, I could not have been in a better place at a better time! It was amazing to work with two little ones who love to be close to each other naturally. It was almost easier to work with both together than one at a time. Funny huh? These two were 3 weeks old when I spent the day with them, although they were born about 5 weeks early. So, they were still very much in their sleepy newborn stage, and oh so tiny. Katelyn, who was born first (this is going to be a big deal when they get older! HAHA), was not quite 5 lbs and Kadyn was not quite 7 lbs as you see them here. Thank you both Don and Fei for letting me play and capture these images that I know you will cherish forever. HUG those babies for me one more time.

Yes, all that rolled into one! (And yes, only on my blog will you see photos of slimy fish and a beautiful newborn baby on the same page. Only in Alaska. HA!), We went on our last camping trip of the year (sniff, sniff). It was COLD, and the night was DARK, which was much different than our summer camping trips to Council. Definetely fall weather! We had fun getting cozy by the fire, catching the last of the silver salmon running up river, and wandering around looking at all the old cars the Pederson family all ran at one time. They are so cool! I’m going to miss our trips this winter, but know it will all be there for us again next summer! YAY! This week we also celebrated our little man’s 1st birthday. He came into this world on October 1, 2008 and it has been a non-stop thrill ride ever since! Little did I know how much energy this child would have or just how much energy I would need to keep up with him! hehe. I love him so much and would not change anything for a second though. Here is our little man, Levi Steven. <3

October 1, 2009This sweet angel was definetely sent from heaven. Beautiful and perfect. I got to photograph her at 19 days old. While she wasn’t up to some of my usual poses, she took to just laying there and being cute, pretty good! I’m lucky because this sweetie is my neighbor and I get to watch her grow and blossom into a toddler, girl, and eventually a lovely young lady. Thank you Nikki and Paul for allowing me to capture pure cuteness in your baby girl. Like everyone says, they don’t stay this little for long. Enjoy her!
