These berries reminded me of the holidays which are fast approaching. Ok, let me back up. The holidays are not approaching, they are here!! I love this time of year! The Christmas music, the food, the lights, the snow, and hearing the crackle of wood burning in the wood stove. Being with family and friends is what makes this time of year most memorable, but of course the birth of Jesus Christ is why we celebrate the season. Here’s to the kick off of a safe and wonderful holiday season!

November 21, 2009The “H” Family | Esther Pederson Photography
November 17, 2009Well, I know we’ve all heard of photo sessions at the beach, but have you ever seen photos from one with snow covering the sand, and ice chunks floating in the ocean?
This was my exact experience a few days ago with this adorable family. Regardless of the cold, I had so much fun capturing their little moments. Their daughter was absolutely the cutest little girl, and when we went to their house to warm up after our short session, she was the perfect hostess, offering me “tea” and “cake”, and even let me hold her baby doll “Cookie”. For those who remember reading my post a few weeks ago about having to borrow a chair for a senior session, well, that chair belongs to Sarah, this lovely Mommy! Sarah is the owner of Bearing Song, a fun little guitar studio and gift shop here in Nome. Among other talents, she also has the most beautiful singing voice. Check out her music here and also on iTunes! She has a fun and folky style that I just love! Thanks so much Phil and Sarah for a fun day. I hope you enjoy this little peak from our time together.

November 14, 2009I’ve been looking over photos I took this summer, and wow, I have a ton! I haven’t even scratched the surface, so I have a feeling I will be editing those all winter and posting them here and there. We just had a huge snow storm in western Alaska, and these photos gave me a warm feeling inside. I love summers in Alaska, they are truly beautiful. Here are just a couple details I captured a few short months back. TFL and have a wonderful weekend everyone!

November 10, 2009Well, it’s been a while. It seems I have had a lack of creative juices flowing through me lately. I think every winter season I get to this point where I don’t pick my camera up for days upon days. It’s terrible. Well, today I went on a little drive after checking the mail, and thought this beach miner’s shelter was interesting. Pretty sure it’s abandoned at this point due to the weather. But you never know. Those miners are tough people! The wind was blowing, the snow was coming down, and the waves were crashing. Brr, it was cold! I’m so glad I have a warm place to sleep at night!
