beautiful maternity….Asaaluk | Esther Pederson Photography

December 28th, 2010

I always get excited when a mom-to-be asks me to shoot some maternity photos for them. I think they are my favorite sessions. There is something about a pregnant woman that is so beautiful. Even if they don’t feel very photogenic, especially at the later stages of pregnancy, they still have a glow that just radiates. Asaaluk is every bit as gorgeous. She not only is beautiful outside, she is just as beautiful inside as well. She is a mom to a bouncy and outgoing three year old girl, who was my little helper (thank you AwaLuk!) during the session. I know she’ll be a great helper when her baby sister arrives too. Can’t wait to meet her! Enjoy you guys, and blessings as you welcome another little angel into the world. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!

solstice surprise | Esther Pederson Photography

December 22nd, 2010

This was once in a lifetime. It was a clear, crisp and beautiful night in Nome, Alaska last night. We got to enjoy this and it was wonderful and magical. When the eclipse first started I thought it a bit eerie that the moon was disappearing right before my eyes, but as the night went on, and the moon started to glow a bright orange/red, those weird feelings went away and I enjoyed the show.

enjoying winter | Esther Pederson Photography

December 5th, 2010

We were able to drive out the road a ways last week to gather some beach wood for our wood stove. It was nice to be out in the country in the middle of the winter. I’m sure the roads are all snowed over now, since we had our big storm the last two days. I’m glad we got out one more time before then. Also since then, the ocean has finally frozen over. In some ways it makes me sad to say goodbye to the rolling waves, but on the other hand, I am excited to eat some fresh crab from our Norton Sound waters again! :)

baby logan | Esther Pederson Photography

November 26th, 2010

Before becomming a Mom, holding a new baby was something I did not look forward to. It was stressful, akward, and it always seemed like the baby knew I wasn’t a Mom and cried as soon as soon as they were put in my arms. (You hear me people?) Fast forward that a few years, and a few things have changed. My two babies aern’t babies anymore. They can run and talk and will only sit still for a few minutes at a time. And now, whenever I get a chance to hold or smell a newborn, it is always a priviledge, and I walk away wanting another one of my own. It never fails! I love babies. Meeting and holding baby Logan was no different. This little guy was born 4 hours past my birthday. Everyone was hoping he would make his entrance a little earlier so we could officially be birthday buddies. I guess you could say that he arrived fashionably late and on his own schedule! Our two families are close so I will get to watch Logan as he grows up–another priviledge. Thank you Sweetie for coming to visit me and letting me preserve this little snippet of time for your little boy. Enjoy this stage, because it is true what everyone says….they grow up way too fast.

my two loves | Esther Pederson Photography

November 21st, 2010

I took the kiddies out one last time before the snow fell. I didn’t get a whole lot as alls they wanted to do was run around the golden grass on this beautiful hillside close to town. But still its nice to look back on these and remember how beautiful the golden sunlight was and how cute my kids were at this point in time. They are growing way too fast, and they won’t listen to me when I tell them to stop growing either. Hmm….

bill and tammy | Esther Pederson Photography

November 14th, 2010

Nome has a new married couple in town. Congratulations to Bill and Tammy for making their relationship official and tying the knot! Their wedding day was nothing short of amazing. It was a celebration not only for them, but their family and friends as well. And celebrate, they did!! Tammy had been planning her big day for close to a year, and it showed. Everything from their colors, to outfits to the little details at the reception were beautiful. She really did a fabulous job of turning the vision of her dream wedding into a reality. It was evident that many people had a part in creating the perfect day for the couple as well. I realized that a lot of hard work (mostly behind the scenes) went into this single day and I was just so honored to be a small part it. Enjoy the photos Mr. and Mrs. Merchant! You were both radiating with happiness and love and I hope you live a long and happy life together.
It all started as humble beginnings. On Christmas day, Bill asked Tammy if she would marry her on a piece of wrapping paper. (Notice, she didn’t have an option to say no! How clever Bill!) :)

I’m not sure what they were texting back and forth, but I know Tammy was texting Bill, and Bill was texting Tammy. Cuuute!

This just be my favorite from the day. It exudes so much happiness, excitement and joy!
Working with the wedding party was such a breeze (I knew they were all antsy to get the party started at the reception, but it didn’t stop me from getting some great shots–and some funny ones too, just their style!)
Tammy’s dad (Yes, I did say DAD!) Tom made their awesome wedding cake! It was a true work of heart. Great job Tom! I loved their cake topper too. I had to look twice to see what the bride was really up to! HA! And this last one pretty much sums up the evening. Lots of dancing, fun, and laughs!

two sweet sisters | Esther Pederson Photography

November 5th, 2010

Meeting and photographing these two girls was amazing. They were so easy going, I almost forgot I was working on my birthday! :) Yes, we trudged through the snow, and yes, there was a little chill in the air, but these two were sweeter than a pillowcase full of Halloween candy! I am so glad I got a chance to capture some special memories for their parents. Ones I hope they cherish for years to come. Thanks so much Makayla and Sophia. You both were great helpers and beautiful models.

Tom & Jessica | Esther Pederson Photography

November 3rd, 2010

These are two of my favorite people in the whole world. Meet Tom and Jessica. Not only are they a gorgeous couple on the outside, they have so much inner beauty too! Just being around them makes me happy. It helps that they both love kids too. My kids love them and they are pretty much considered Auntie and Uncle for Levi and Sienna! Tom and Jesse have been with me on my photography journey from the beginning. They were one of my first guinea pigs before I even knew what an aperature was! It’s been so fun to watch them grow in their relationship, and at the same time, see how I’ve progressed in my photography journey. I’ll spare you the images that I took back then. But here are the new ones we just snapped a few days ago. Enjoy you two! I love how they turned out. :)

happy halloween! | Esther Pederson Photography

November 1st, 2010

My two little munchkins couldn’t be any more different. And their halloween costumes sort of reflected that as well. Sienna was totally rockin’ her clown personality, telling jokes, laughing, and being the outgoing person she almost always is. Levi on the other hand was just plain cute, and absolutely played that roll very well. He said “thank you” to all the people that gave him treats, posed for pictures with a perfect smile and said “bye bye” when leaving. Ahhhh, he melted my heart! What a sweetie. We like to visit a few houses around our little neighborhood, and then end our treating at Grandma and Grandpa’s house (where you never know what you’ll get from year to year–last year it was instant oatmeal, microwave popcorn, and other goodies from their cupboards). Anyway, it was another fun year to be out and about. It’s always fun to visit people’s houses that you normally don’t visit but see almost every day. Thanks to all for again being so gracious to our kids and making their night special!

old beasts | Esther Pederson Photography

October 30th, 2010

The musk-oxen are like permanent fixtures in our town. You can bet that if you come to Nome, you’ll see them. A lot of times, they are just a few feet off the road. And even though I see them all the time, I never get tired of watching them. They are incredible. Large, hairy and pretty calm. Occassionally you’ll see them duke it out and head butt each other, or see the little babies run and play. But for the most part, they eat, lay down, or just stand there and stare back at you. They make for great subjects for my photography! All from the comfort of my car, with heated seats……… :)
