I met up with this amazing couple yesterday for an evening maternity session. The weather was incredible and more than I could have hoped for. The mama to be was of course as gorgeous as could be. It made me miss having a baby bump of my own. <3 We ventured out and got some amazing shots that these soon to be parents can treasure long after their little one has flown from the nest. Of course we had to get the other two “kids” in on the action too. They don’t know what’s coming yet, but I’m sure they will be a great set of brothers to their new sister. Thanks Tara and Loren for a fabulous session and for being so open to my ideas. You will both be incredible parents and this little one is certainly blessed to have you as family. Can’t wait to meet her! xo.

May 20, 2010The days are getting longer in Nome, and that means staying up later to see these awesome sunsets. I think this one was just after midnight. I looked out the window and it was like layers and layers of bright magenta clouds. So, I jumped in the car and drove out to take a photo. Not the same as seeing it in person, but still amazing. Really amazing.

May 18, 2010I met up with McKenzie yesterday. This was our second session together, and we had a blast! It was great to connect with her again and see what she’s been up to this past year. She graduates in less than 2 weeks from high school, and I couldn’t be more excited for her! McKenzie also brought along the best prop ever, her new puppy, “Bo”! He was the cutest and most rambunctious 3 month old I’ve ever met! lol! It was sweet to capture some images for her and “Bo” as I know this puppy won’t stay small for long. Thanks again McKenzie for a fun evening, and for putting up with my crazy ideas once again! I can’t wait to shoot part II! Enjoy.

OCF…take 1 | Esther Pederson Photography
May 14, 2010So, I ordered a few things over the last couple of weeks. OK, a lot of things. I’m gearing up to learn off camera flash, and today was my very first attempt at a light setup, using my 580 EXII and shoot through umbrella. I’m still not quite sure what I did wrong, but a lot of my tries were either too washed out, or had harsh shadowing, and most were inconsistent. HA! Well, I did manage to get this one, which is sweet, but I know needs some work. I’ll treasure it for now and continue to practice. I’m getting my Westcott 50×50 in the next week, so that might make a big difference in the softness of my light. I hope so anyway. I’d love to hear your experiences and/or advice on OCF if you have any. Thanks!
