meet Rowan…my sweet nephew | Esther Pederson Photography

April 28th, 2011

How lucky for me to have a sister and brother-in-law who make the cutest babies. How lucky for me to live just a few houses up, and have the opportunity to photograph their precious new addition. Meet Rowan James. First off, his name simply rocks. I love it, and it matches his hansome face perfectly. He is little. He is sweet. He is beautiful. Rowan was awake for the first few minutes of our session, but just like magic, he was asleep and a wonderful model for the rest of the session. I got to try out a few of my baby props I had never used before, and use ideas that have been planted in my head but never used on an actual newborn. Lets face it, Nome just isn’t the prime location for newborn photography. I’m lucky if I get one per year. Anyway, enough about that. Meet my precious baby nephew…isn’t he sweet? I’m looking forward to taking many more photos of this little munchkin this summer!

engaged and in love | Esther Pederson Photography

April 22nd, 2011

Anthony and Tiffany are sweet, and even sweeter together. They made my job easy by doing what they already know how to do….love each other. It was neat to see them smile together, share quiet moments together and laugh together. Enjoy this little sneak peak guys! I’m looking forward to working with you to make some amazing invites for your upcoming wedding. All the best in your new life together. <3

Emerson…senior 2011 | Esther Pederson Photography

April 19th, 2011

April has been a fantastic month for me. April 16 was especially nice. I met up with Emerson to get his senior photos done. I admit, I was a little timid coming into this one because I had heard through the grapevine that he was a little camera shy and didn’t like to pose. Seriously? This guy was one of my best clients to date. He was a breeze, a natural and for the most part I didn’t even have to direct him. We got along from the moment we took off for the session; chatting about school and parents and sports. I hope you had as much fun as I did Emerson. And I know we had joked about the last photo but I thought it turned out pretty bad…as in awesome! Enjoy the preview, and I promise this is just the tip of the iceberg…many more to come! How are your parents going to choose? ;)

Jeremiah…senior 2011 | Esther Pederson Photography

April 17th, 2011

I have been flooded with the best clients in the last few days. Jeremiah was no exception. He was the most gracious and willing and kindest person to work with. I love my job, and photographing people like this make me realize why I do what I do. Of course, Jer (like all my clients) had to endure my excited random shouts like “Oh my gosh!”, “This is AMAZING!”, or “You are SO GQ right now!”….haha. He took it like the coolest guy on the planet though. Just a hint of a smile. And then I snapped. :) Thanks so much Jeremiah! You really made my Thursday one of the best Thursdays in a long time. The best of luck in Wisconsin next year.

Jeffrey…senior 2011 | Esther Pederson Photography

April 15th, 2011

Meet Jeffrey. He’s smart, he can sing and play the tuba, his middle name is Lee (like me!), he’s brave for getting his senior photos done in 12 degree weather, and he is about to rock out of his senior year at Nome Beltz High School! He was so laid back and up for anything, I felt like I just wanted the session to go on forever. But as mother nature would have it, we got cold and decided enough was enough after about 4 locations. :) It was great meeting and photographing you Jeff, and I hope you enjoy your last few days as king of the school! Enjoy the preview. I’ll get in touch with the rest of the photos soon.

Liz…senior 2011 | Esther Pederson Photography

April 9th, 2011

Today was a breath of fresh air. Everything was right in the world. The weather was perfect and springy, sunny and warm. It was Friday, and a beautiful end to a week full of snow, wind and cold. AND today I got to meet up with Liz, one of Nome Beltz’s 2011 seniors. Helllllo! This girl is gorgeous. Made my job easy and fun and made my heart happy about photography again. We visited a few locations around town, just driving and stopping wherever we wanted. A few people waved and I’m sure a few wanted to stop and watch! HA! Liz, you are a complete natural {beauty} in front of the camera and it was like you knew what I was thinking before I said it! Thanks for being up for anything and everything……and for trudging through snow for me. It was totally worth it. More soon!

new pretties | Esther Pederson Photography

April 6th, 2011

So I like to photograph things that don’t move. Things I can angle or position without feeling like I’ve just man handled someone. :) And these beauties were willing to model for me, so I thought I would take the opportunity to photograph my new glasses. It’s my first pair of “fun” glasses, and after my last pair broke, I told myself….I’m not going to pass up those fun ones this time! I usually want the fun pair, but settle for the regular classic ones instead. I’m sooooooooooo glad I got these. They are cute, sassy, and PINK! There’s nothing like a new pair of glasses to make a girl feel good.

blueberry delight | Esther Pederson Photography

April 4th, 2011

Blueberry delight is one of the favorite desserts (if not THE favorite dessert) of people here in Nome. Especially after the blueberry season we had last summer, I’m sure this dish is being made all the time. I know I’ve had it several times this winter already. But as I thought about it… I was pretty amazed that I had not made it myself yet. One, because if I did make it, the pan would likely bypass my tummy and go straight to my hips. :) But I decided to give it a go yesterday and I’m so glad I did. It was delicious last night, and even better tonight. There’s something about that walnut/butter crust with the cream cheese and whipped cream center melded together with the blueberry filling………..it is pretty much heaven on earth! And if this photo doesn’t do it for ya, try making it for yourself and you’ll see what I mean! Have a great week everyone.

Blueberry Delight

1st layer
1 cup butter- melted
1 cup walnuts- chopped fine
1 cup flour
Mix together and press into a 9×13 greased pan. Bake for 15 min at 350 and cool completely.

2nd layer
1 cup powdered sugar
16 ounce cream cheese
*Cream together the powdered sugar and cream cheese*
Fold in 8 ounce cool-whip.
Spread over cooled crust.

3rd layer
1 cup cold water
1 cup sugar
4 TBSP cornstarch -dissolve in water before heating
Bring mixture to boil and add 3 TBSP raspberry jello.

Boil 1 minute
Quickly stir in 4 C. blueberries

Add berry mixture on top of cream cheese layer.

Stick in the freezer for a bit and add the final topping right before serving.
Top with 8 ounce cool whip and sprinkle chopped walnuts and blueberries. Freeze any leftovers.
