Happy 2010! I can hardly believe we are 10 years into the new century! Remember the big scare of Y2K? What a memory! Anyway, because I don’t have a tripod, I had to get creative with my fireworks shots. If you have a tripod and love it, I’d love to know what you have. I think I need to break down and buy one, the freebie one I got a few years ago doesn’t cut it anymore. Regardless, it was fun to experiment with shutter speeds and aperture to create some cool shots. And our fireworks show was long enough that I wasn’t stuck watching the show behind my camera the whole time. Thanks Nome! What a great way to ring in 2010!

I love how you took your first shot and made it into art. Brilliant job! You get what you pay for in terms of tripods. Mine is 25+ years old (silk) and still doing the job – pretty heavy though. They’ve come a long ways with lighter weight metals in those 25+ years.

Great light and color. Especially without a tripod. I have a manfroto tripod and I like it but I wish I would have gotten one with a ball head. I have 4 different handles to adjust on mine and i hate that.

Love that first one. Fireworks are tough without a tripod, and draggign the tripod is not always fun either.

I tried to get some shots New Years Eve night — but I’m not that good yet.
Beautiful shots!

Yes, you need a tripod!!!! (because they’re so much fun.) But OMG! I’m so glad you didn’t have one for the first shot, because what a gorgeous, beautiful, effect! TFS.
